Kohl’s and WW Partner to Support Wellness and Healthy Living

Kohl’s has announced a strategic partnership with WW, the new Weight Watchers, which is a global wellness company. This collaboration will bring together both companies’ passions to help families and communities live healthier lives. Kohl’s and WW will jointly pilot a variety of health and wellness offerings to assist customers and Kohls’ associates in their wellness journeys. This includes the launch of the WW Studio in-store, which is a community space that hosts WW Wellness Workshops in Chicago. It also serves as a WW space for Kohls’ customers and associates. WW Healthy Kitchen products will be available in select stores starting in June 2019 and online. The collaboration will also allow Kohl’s associates to access subsidized WW Freestyle memberships. Michelle Gass, Kohl’s CEO, stated that the company is a destination for active and well-being for the whole family.

Total Retail’s Take:Unique brands such as these are one way Kohl’s hopes to stand out from the rest. Macy’s and J.C. are both department store chains. Penney reported disappointing holiday sales results and Sears and Bon-Ton’s futures are in doubt. Bottom line: There’s market share available. Kohl’s collaboration with WW is not the first time Kohl’s used exclusive brand partnerships to attract customers into its stores. Kohl’s , for instance, signed a deal to allow Amazon returns to its stores and also sell its Alexa-enabled products. To lease space in its roughly 300 “right-sized”, grocery stores stores, Kohl’s started a partnership with convenience stores . CNBC reports that Kohl’s has hinted at working with gyms.
